A little about CIP Reporting

CIP Reporting is an established company with both existing and new customers. We develop a software platform that customers use to create custom applications for their businesses. The software platform includes web based, desktop, mobile, and server software. There are a lot of different technologies put together into one system to make it all work. Most of the current software development happens in the application layer which is mostly written in PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, and CIPS.

What is CIPS you ask? CIPS is short for "CIP Script" and has become a core part of our product. It is a custom programming language designed by us for us. It looks a lot like JavaScript, but that's about it. CIPS is very powerful and is used to create very dynamic and custom applications in CIP Reporting. The coolest thing about CIPS is that as a software developer working on customer projects you have to extend the language to add new features by creating new functions, etc.

How Things Work at CIP Reporting

All software development happens as a result of working on customer projects. Your first job duty is really to learn the basics of designing applications in the CIP Reporting framework. Most of this is done with simple web based configuration options at first, but progresses into adapting and modifying example code in CIPS for advanced implementations. As you progress and learn CIPS and how to use it you will start to enhance the CIPS language itself and possibly authoring software libraries in CIPS. There are other opportunities once you get familiar with our software platform including HTML5 application development, mobile development, etc. It all starts with you learning our software in and out and being involved in customer projects.

We have a lot of legacy software that we have to embrace, support, and enhance; some of which is nearing 10 years old. You will be working in an environment where there is a lot of great code following the most modern of paradigms and also old code that is harder to follow. You will continually work on different projects as needed and rarely have the luxury of working on the same thing for months especially in the beginning. However, as your skills with CIP increase the more leading role you will play because we are growing and building our offshore team.

The fact that it's been less than two months that my staff and I have been using CIP Reporting and we have successfully integrated CIP into all event logging, report writing and documentation that we need to accomplish every shift in such a short time is a clear testament to the ease of use and customization that this program has. ”
